LG's own help library states plainly that Sb indicates the unit is in Sabbath Mode and that this is not an error code, enabled for observance of the Jewish Sabbath and Holidays, during which the temperature cannot be changed and the timer, light and alarm functions are disabled. LG appliance display · also shown as 5b What to do when Sb shows on the appliance ### Kind of code Setup modes, not failures Nothing is wrong with the new appliance; it has come out of the carton in a state the store or the factory left it in. A showroom or demo mode lights the display and the fans while the unit never cools or heats, a Sabbath setting holds the oven light and hides the controls, a control or shipping lock refuses every key, and some laundry and dish care machines ask for a first calibration cycle before normal use. The manual gives the key sequence that turns each one off; once it is off, the appliance runs as it should. ### Usually leads to No installation Confirm whether the household intends this mode to be active before assuming the panel is unresponsive. ### Shows up as Appliance Installation Code on a New Unit: Setup Modes and Hookup Messages An appliance installation code is a message a new unit shows because of how it was set up: a demo mode, a water or drain alert, a vent warning or a power check. ### Make LG LG installs span refrigerators with water lines, stacked or side-by-side laundry, dishwashers and ranges, often with a Wi-Fi setup at first power-on. ### Source LG USA Support — Range Error Codes List LG documents Sb on its range and wall oven control platform; the exact exit sequence can vary by model. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from LG's own guidance for Sb on its appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Confirm whether the household intends this mode to be active before assuming the panel is unresponsive. 02 Use the documented sequence for the model — commonly pressing Bake, setting a temperature, pressing Start, then holding Clock — to exit the mode. 03 Confirm the timer, light and alarm functions return once the mode is cleared. 04 If Sb will not clear with the documented sequence, book a visit rather than repeatedly cycling the breaker. ### Cleared? The message has gone from the display, the setting or connection behind it has been corrected, and the new appliance finishes a full first cycle without raising it again. A setup code that comes straight back after the hookup has been checked points to something the install missed, such as a kinked hose or a harness left unplugged, so note it when you book. ### What not to do Sb does not indicate the keypad or the electronic control has failed. LG's own wording says directly that this is not an error code, and the unit behaves exactly as documented while it is active. ## What you may notice with it. Confirm whether the household intends this mode to be active before assuming the panel is unresponsive. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Does Sb mean the oven light has burned out? No, LG's own documentation notes the light function is deliberately disabled while Sabbath mode is active, and if the light was already on when the mode was set, it stays on rather than being controllable. ### Can I change the oven temperature while Sb is displayed? No, LG states the temperature cannot be changed while this mode is active; it has to be exited first using the documented sequence. ### Why would a brand-new cooking appliance already be in Sabbath mode at delivery? It usually means the entry sequence was triggered by accident during unpacking or a demonstration, since it takes a specific combination of button presses rather than one press. --- **[Read on the site: LG Sb — Sabbath mode on a new cooking appliance](https://applianceinstallation.center/error-codes/lg-sb-range/)** **[Book a visit with ApplianceInstallation.center](https://applianceinstallation.center/schedule/)**
