Who installs it, which fuel, which front

# Decisions before the install guides.

The calls a buyer makes before delivery: the store's installation or an independent one, gas or electric when a kitchen changes, and a panel-ready front or a finished one, with what each choice asks of the install.

## Decisions before the install, guide by guide.

Every appliance decision has an installation decision hiding inside it. The fuel under a cooking appliance decides which trades come before the cabinets. The front on a built-in decides how many visits the fitting needs. The way the installation is bought decides who answers for the connection once the crew has left.

### [Store delivery install or an independent installer: matching the route to the job](https://applianceinstallation.center/guides/store-delivery-install-or-an-independent-installer/)

A straight swap on sound hookups suits delivery with installation. A fuel change, a built-in or an online purchase usually does not. The questions to put in writing either way.

A 240-volt circuit, a gas branch with a shutoff, or both for dual fuel. What has to be in the wall for each choice, and the order the trades should work in.

### [Panel-ready or finished front: what each choice asks of the install](https://applianceinstallation.center/guides/panel-ready-or-finished-front-for-an-install/)

One front goes in and runs in a single visit. The other adds a cabinetmaker, a panel built to weight and thickness limits, and usually a second trip.

## Who installs it, which fuel, which front.

The guides in this section compare those choices from the installer's side: what must be in the wall, what has to be ordered or built, who needs to be on site and in which order, and what each option commits the kitchen or laundry room to for the years after. They are written for someone who is still deciding, while changing course costs nothing.

Figures come from the makers' installation instructions, ENERGY STAR and EPA, with the source under each claim. Where the right answer depends on the home, such as the panel's capacity, the gas supply or the local code, the guide says who can answer it rather than pretending to.

We are an independent installer, not the maker's or a store's, and these guides say what we would ask either one. Where a choice means fresh wiring, new gas piping or a relocated outlet, the guides mark the point at which a licensed electrician or plumber takes over before we arrive.

### The short answer Store delivery install or an independent installer: matching the route to the job

A store delivery install connects to the hookups already in place on a scope set by the order; an independent appliance installer is booked for the site.

### The short answer Gas or electric when the kitchen changes: what each fuel asks of the install

Choosing gas or electric cooking during a remodel is an installation decision as much as a kitchen one.

### The short answer Panel-ready or finished front: what each choice asks of the install

Panel-ready or finished front is a choice about the installation as much as the look.

## When reading is not enough.

If the checks in these guides did not settle it, the visit picks up from there, stop by stop.

[What installations cost](https://applianceinstallation.center/cost/)

1. 01 The opening and the hookups, checked first
2. 02 Connected the way the instructions say
3. 03 Set in, leveled and secured
4. 04 A first run with you there

## The problems these answer.

Each has a page of its own, with the causes in the order worth checking.

## Questions about decisions before the install.

### When should the installation be considered in an appliance choice?

Before ordering. A fuel change, a panel-ready front or a new location all require work that has to be scheduled ahead of the delivery date.

### Does the way I buy installation change the result?

It changes who answers for the connection and what parts are included. Put the questions about connectors, cords, brackets and haul-away in writing either way.

### Which choice adds the most work to installation day?

A change of fuel, because it adds a supply and removes another. A panel-ready front comes next, because it adds a cabinetmaker and usually a second visit.

### Can a site check help before I decide?

Yes. A pre-installation visit looks at the opening, the path in and every connection against the models you are considering.

## The other sections.

Split by what you are trying to find out rather than by which part of the appliance it concerns.
