Wilmette was officially incorporated as a village on September 19, 1872, at a house on Greenleaf Avenue. ## What Wilmette does to an appliance. The Chicago and Milwaukee Railroad laid tracks through the area in 1855, well before incorporation, and that rail line helped drive the settlement of the North Shore. Some of the earliest recorded North Shore residents had already settled in the area prior to Chicago's own incorporation, long before Wilmette organized as a village in its own right. [All of Chicago](https://applianceinstallation.center/locations/chicagoland/) ### On a lake Many lake cottages were built for summers and later made year-round, with kitchens and laundries fitted piece by piece, so an installation there checks every connection the new unit will use before it arrives. ### Older housing stock Historic districts often review changes to a house's outside walls, so a new hood cap or laundry vent may need approval before a hole is cut, and an installation there tries the existing openings first. ### Family houses A family house replacing a washer or a dish care machine can rarely go long without one, so the installation there is often booked for delivery day, with the old unit disconnected and hauled away in the same visit. ## A visit in Wilmette.
