# Appliance installation in Los Angeles County.

94 cities and neighborhoods across Los Angeles County, part of Los Angeles — 14 with a page on what that place does to an appliance.

## What Los Angeles County does to an appliance.

Where appliances sit in Los Angeles County: cutouts and panel-ready fits, patio and pool installs, gated communities.

### Cutouts and panel-ready fits

Panel-ready units arrive without their fronts, and fitting them means mounting the cabinetmaker's panels to the maker's template, setting the hinges for the panel's weight and lining up the reveals with the cabinet doors around them.

### Patio and pool installs

A grill or burner island on utility gas needs a line that a licensed plumber brings out to it, and the installation connects the appliance to that line and leak-checks every joint; one running on propane is fitted with the maker's propane setup first.

### Gated communities

Behind a gate, a house is often approached over paved courts and planted walks, and an installation there picks a route that will not crack a paver or scrape a planter under a heavy crated unit.

### Bel Air

Bel-Air was developed as a hillside estate district, and its Bel Air Bay Club and Bel-Air Country Club were both built by the same early-20th-century developer who laid out the neighborhood.

### Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills remodels often bring a full kitchen of new appliances through a service entrance and a long hall, and an installation there coordinates the delivery with the designer and cabinetmaker so every cutout is ready and measured before the units arrive.

### Brentwood

Brentwood's canyon houses often sit above the street on stepped paths, and installing a heavy new appliance there means planning the carry from the curb to the kitchen, including the old unit's route out, before the delivery truck is scheduled.

### Calabasas

Calabasas was incorporated on April 5, 1991, making it the newest city in Los Angeles County at the time.

### Hancock Park

Hancock Park is covered by a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, a city designation that adds design review for exterior changes to houses in the district.

### Holmby Hills

Holmby Hills was zoned for large estate lots of up to 4 acres straddling Sunset Boulevard, giving the neighborhood some of the biggest parcels on the Westside.

### Malibu

Malibu houses along the coast highway often have steep drives and outside stairs down to the kitchen level, and an installation there plans the carry, protects the path and may fit a propane conversion where the house runs on a tank rather than utility gas.

### Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach's incorporation as a city was approved by vote on November 26, 1912, and took effect on December 7 of that year.

### Pacific Palisades

Across Pacific Palisades, homes going back up after the 2025 fire are receiving whole new kitchens and laundries, and installation there follows the new plans closely, checking that each outlet, water valve, drain and duct was placed where the spec sheets ask before the appliances go in.

### Palos Verdes Estates

Palos Verdes Estates was master-planned in 1923 by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., who carved 3,200 acres out of the former Rancho de los Palos Verdes for the new subdivision.

### Pasadena

Pasadena bungalows were built with small kitchens and narrow doors, and an installation there often means a slimmer model, doors taken off their hinges for the carry and a gas connector long enough to reach a stub set for a much older unit.

### San Marino

San Marino was incorporated on April 25, 1913, combining the subdivided Wilson, Patton and Huntington ranchos along with smaller parcels from the Stoneman, White and Rose ranchos.

### Santa Monica

Santa Monica was founded in 1875 by John Jones and Robert Baker and incorporated as a city in 1886, making it one of the older cities on the Los Angeles County coast.

### Studio City

Land that became Studio City passed through the Lankershim Ranch Land and Water Company before it was subdivided, and by 1899 the area had lost most of its water rights to the city of Los Angeles, ending its run as farmland.

Also covered in Los Angeles County
