Appliance installation in The Woodlands.

The Woodlands' newer houses were built with laundries and kitchens planned around builder appliances, and an installation there checks that an upgraded unit fits the same cutout and connections or plans the changes the cabinetmaker and trades need to make first.

What The Woodlands does
to an appliance.

Developer George Mitchell's original plan called for The Woodlands to eventually be annexed by the city of Houston, but residents organized in the mid-2000s to prevent that from happening.

State legislation passed since then gives The Woodlands the option to incorporate as its own city any time up until 2057.

Formal discussion about The Woodlands becoming an incorporated city, rather than staying an unincorporated master-planned community, has been ongoing since 2019.

Newer developments

Newer subdivisions were built with openings sized to the builder's appliances, and a homeowner upgrading there often finds the new model a little deeper or wider, so the opening is measured before the purchase rather than on delivery day.

Family houses

Where children are in the house, no cooking unit is set in place without its anti-tip bracket, and an installation there fixes the bracket, engages the leg and tests it by tilting the unit gently forward before the crew leaves.

Patio and pool installs

Homes that entertain often add a second ice maker, a beverage unit or a warming drawer for parties, and installing them means planning outlets, drains and airflow in the bar or island before the cabinetry is finished.

When an appliance
cannot wait in The Woodlands.

In The Woodlands as anywhere, these five signs follow a connection that is not safe to run on, so the new appliance stays off until the hookup is put right: gas in the air after the gas connector went on, water on the floor after a supply or drain connection, a burning smell or a tripped breaker on the very first run, and a laundry exhaust that is crushed, pulled loose or blowing lint into the room.
