What Cinco Ranch does
to an appliance.

Part of the community sits inside the city of Houston's extraterritorial jurisdiction, which under the 1963 Texas Municipal Annexation Act can extend up to five miles beyond the city's own limits.

Houston used that same extraterritorial authority to annex the neighboring Barker Reservoir in the 1970s, well before Cinco Ranch itself was developed.

Newer developments

In a brand-new house the first appliance installation may be the first time the gas stub, the drain and the laundry outlet are ever used, so each is tested under load before the new unit is pushed into place.

Family houses

A family house replacing a washer or a dish care machine can rarely go long without one, so the installation there is often booked for delivery day, with the old unit disconnected and hauled away in the same visit.

A second unit to hook up

A second dish care machine, oven or laundry pair needs its own water, drain, gas or circuit, and the first step in installing one is learning whether those exist where it will stand or have to be added by a plumber or an electrician.

When an appliance
cannot wait in Cinco Ranch.

In Cinco Ranch as anywhere, these five signs follow a connection that is not safe to run on, so the new appliance stays off until the hookup is put right: gas in the air after the gas connector went on, water on the floor after a supply or drain connection, a burning smell or a tripped breaker on the very first run, and a laundry exhaust that is crushed, pulled loose or blowing lint into the room.
