Liebherr's 'D' demo mode on a cold storage unit
Liebherr's own manual describes this as a feature built for dealers to demonstrate a unit's features on a showroom floor: while it is active, every refrigeration function is switched off even though the display and touch controls keep working normally.

What D
actually means.
Liebherr's own manual describes this as a feature built for dealers to demonstrate a unit's features on a showroom floor: while it is active, every refrigeration function is switched off even though the display and touch controls keep working normally. A unit delivered with a 'D' already showing is behaving exactly as designed for a showroom, not for a kitchen.

What to do when D shows on the applianceKind of codeSetup modes, not failures
Nothing is wrong with the new appliance; it has come out of the carton in a state the store or the factory left it in. A showroom or demo mode lights the display and the fans while the unit never cools or heats, a Sabbath setting holds the oven light and hides the controls, a control or shipping lock refuses every key, and some laundry and dish care machines ask for a first calibration cycle before normal use. The manual gives the key sequence that turns each one off; once it is off, the appliance runs as it should.
Usually leads toNo installation
Follow Liebherr's own on-screen sequence to deactivate demo mode from the same menu that shows the 'D'.
Shows up asCold Storage Slow to Cool on the First Day
Cold storage slow to cool is a new refrigerator, freezer, wine or beverage unit that still feels warm inside many hours after its installation.
MakeLiebherr
Liebherr installs are cold storage only: freestanding and integrated refrigerators, freezer columns and wine cabinets, set into their openings with room to breathe.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Liebherr's own guidance for D on its appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Follow Liebherr's own on-screen sequence to deactivate demo mode from the same menu that shows the 'D'.
Confirm the appliance switches off, then switch it back on as described in Liebherr's first-use instructions.
Give the cabinet time to reach temperature after the restart, since deactivating demo mode also resets the unit to factory settings.
If a 'D' reappears on its own, book a visit.
Cleared?
The message has gone from the display, the setting or connection behind it has been corrected, and the new appliance finishes a full first cycle without raising it again. A setup code that comes straight back after the hookup has been checked points to something the install missed, such as a kinked hose or a harness left unplugged, so note it when you book.
What not to do
This is not the compressor or the cooling system failing to start. Liebherr's own manual is explicit that refrigeration is intentionally deactivated while this setting is on, not broken.

about D.
Can I clear D myself?
How can I tell demo mode apart from the unit just not being plugged in?

Still showing D?
A booking moves faster with three things: the message exactly as the display shows it, the model number from the carton or the rating plate, and the moment it first appeared. With those, the office can tell whether it is a setup step or a connection to put right, and send the part that fixes it.
