A bright kitchen during an installation, a new stainless French door refrigerator on a low four-wheel appliance dolly being eased toward an empty cabinet opening, a technician seen from behind and shoulders down guiding it with one hand on the side of the cabinet, a folded moving blanket and a coil of new braided water line on a protective floor runner, cardboard corner guards at the edge of the frame, even daylight.

True Residential appliances,
specifically.

True sells cold storage only in the residential space — undercounter and column refrigeration built on the same control platform as its commercial line — and its service manual opens with an installation checklist rather than treating setup as an afterthought: circuit type, anti-tip hardware, leveling from inside the cabinet, and the control panel’s own showroom and Sabbath settings. A True install visit works through that checklist in order.

What is particular
to True Residential.

We take on True cold storage only, since undercounter and column refrigeration is the entirety of what True sells into the US residential market.

The installation checklist is printed before the troubleshooting section

True’s own service manual opens with a checklist confirming a dedicated 15-amp grounded circuit, correct anti-tip bracket engagement, and full contact of every leveling leg with the floor before the unit is considered installed.

Leveling is checked from inside the cabinet, not from the top

True is explicit that leveling should be verified from the interior floor of the unit front-to-back and side-to-side, rather than by eyeballing the top or exterior of the cabinet.

Showroom Mode and Sabbath Mode sit on the same control panel

True’s control board carries both a Showroom Mode, which deactivates the refrigeration system and disables the power-off function for sales-floor display, and a Star-K certified Sabbath Mode for kosher-observant households — either can still be active on a freshly delivered unit.

The high-temperature and door-ajar alarms start counting from power-on

True’s alarm logic fires after a consecutive hour above 50°F for a refrigerator (70°F for a wine cabinet) or after a door left ajar for seven minutes, both of which a newly installed unit can trip before it has settled in or before an installer confirms the door is sealing.

Parts

True’s own checklist calls for a dedicated 15-amp grounded circuit and the anti-tip bracket that ships with the unit, rather than sharing a circuit with other outlets or skipping the bracket on a built-in installation.

Repair or replace

Most True installation calls close on the first visit — confirming the circuit, engaging the anti-tip bracket, leveling from the interior floor, clearing a showroom or Sabbath setting — and only extend further when the electrical circuit itself needs a licensed electrician’s work first.

Questions about
True Residential appliances.

Why is a brand-new True cold storage unit still showing Showroom Mode after delivery?
Showroom Mode is True’s own sales-floor setting: it deactivates the refrigeration system and disables the power-off function so the unit can sit powered on a showroom floor without actually cooling. It is switched off through the control panel before the unit goes into service.
How is a True cold storage unit supposed to be leveled at installation?
True’s own instructions say to check level from the interior floor of the cabinet, front-to-back and side-to-side, and adjust the leg levelers until it reads true — not by eyeballing the top or exterior of the unit.
Is it normal for a newly installed True unit to sound a high-temperature alarm?
It can be. True’s alarm fires after the cabinet has stayed above roughly 50°F for a full consecutive hour, a threshold a unit still pulling down from room temperature right after installation can still be crossing.
