A spirit level lying across the top of a new front-load washer in a home laundry room, the washer's front leveling legs visible at floor level, four removed shipping bolts lying in a row on a folded cloth beside the washer, nobody in the frame.

LG UE — a laundry machine shaking during spin

LG's own help library ties UE directly to leveling: if the washer shakes or makes thumping noises during spin, a UE error may occur if the washer is not level, and its documented fix walks through checking and adjusting each leveling leg.

What to do when UE shows on the appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from LG's own guidance for UE on its appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Rock the washer from front, back and side to check for unevenness.

02

Use a wrench to adjust the height of the leg located in the direction the unit tilts, per LG's documented method.

03

Confirm all legs are in firm contact with the floor.

04

Place a level on top of the washer, checking both the front edge and the middle of the top plate, until it reads centered.

Still there?

It usually turns into anti-tip bracket and leveling. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

UE does not necessarily mean the drum bearing or suspension has failed. LG's own troubleshooting for this code starts entirely with leveling, which is a finishing step of installation.

Where UE usually leads

Anti-tip bracket and leveling.

Anti-tip bracket fastened and engaged, leveling legs set, doors squared on a range, cold storage unit, dish care machine or laundry machine · lowest.

In LG's own words

A UE error may occur during this time if the washer is not level. Rock the washer from the front, back and side to check for unevenness. Using a wrench, adjust the height of the leg located in the direction the unit tilts.

Questions
about UE.

Can I clear UE myself?
Rock the washer from front, back and side to check for unevenness. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How do I check if my new LG laundry machine is actually level?
LG's documented method is placing a level on top of the machine, checking both the front edge and the center of the top plate, and adjusting the legs until the bubble sits centered in both positions.
I already leveled the machine — why does UE still appear on heavy loads?
A very large or heavily mixed load can still trigger a temporary UE even on a level machine; LG's guidance is to let the machine attempt to rebalance and redistribute the load if it does not resolve.
Does UE mean something was installed wrong versus just needing adjustment?
Not necessarily wrong, just unfinished — LG's leveling procedure is a normal last step of installation, and a machine that has not had it done yet is expected to show this code on an early load.

Still showing UE?

A booking moves faster with three things: the message exactly as the display shows it, the model number from the carton or the rating plate, and the moment it first appeared. With those, the office can tell whether it is a setup step or a connection to put right, and send the part that fixes it.
